Who is God?
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33
Have you ever really taken a good look at a vending machine? It's a wonderful snacky dream. You can choose from Chocolatey delight to peanut butter splendor. You don't have to wait on someone to bring it to you or ever walk to the kitchen cabinet. Snacks on demand. But not all snack machine stories are so glorious. We've all had the bag get hung up in that little spiral thingy. We've all experienced the acceptance of our money only to not receive the delicacy goodness in return. So do what any rational person would do. We beat the tar out of the machine or shake it until it is removed from it's foundation. We want our snack and we want it now.
Too many times we look at God this way. We put in our time at church. If we are really good, we do our quiet time. We do what we feel like God wants, so when it's our turn we demand action. If He doesn't come through like we want, we get mad and show our impatience. We want God to cater to us.
Jesus tells us not to be concerned with everything we think we want. First, God doesn't exist to grant our wished and make everything happen that we want to see happen. If we will concentrate on God and what He want to see happen then his promise is that He will take care of everything else. Focus on His one thing and not our thousand things. Take care of one and let God take care of the thousand. Then we find out how much better life really is.
